Jessica Alba reveals she goes to therapy with her daughter Honor to ‘learn to be a better mother’

Jessica Alba is going above and beyond in her dedication to motherhood. The actress, 38, admitted during Her Campus Media’s annual Her Conference on Saturday that she attends therapy with her eldest daughter, Honor, 10. Saying she wants to be a ‘better mother’ and work on her communication with the preteen, Jessica explained her decision to seek guidance.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alba said she decided to go with Honor in order to ‘learn to be a better mother to her and communicate better with her.’ The move was also made in part due to her own upbringing, as mental health care was less of a focus during her adolescent years. ‘Some people think, like in my family, you talk to a priest and that’s it’ she said.

Alba also commented on how she doesn’t feel comfortable talking to a priest about her feelings. ‘I didn’t grow up in an environment where you talked about this stuff, and it was just like shut it down and keep it moving…So I find a lot of inspiration just in talking to my kids,’ Jessica continued.

And already, Alba is experiencing some drama with Honor, making her decision to go to therapy even more understandable. The Fantastic Four star told Jimmy Fallon that her daughter ‘loves drama.’ ‘I don’t encourage drama, so I’m like, ‘Honor, it’s not appropriate for you to have a boyfriend. It doesn’t even make sense. You’re in fifth grade, like where are you gonna go?’

In response, Honor said, ‘Mom, but I love drama.’ Jessica and her husband, Cash Warren, share Honor, along with daughter Haven, 7, and son Hayes, 1, together. They all live in a stunning Beverly Hills mansion which was recently highlighted on the June cover of Architectural Digest following renovations.

The star’s 40-year-old film producer husband can also be seen in the feature centered around their home as Jessica told the publication: ‘This is our dream house!’ This power couple lived in a house down the street of their current residence but had their children in mind when looking for a new home as the backyard features a large, grassy area.

Jessica told Architectural Digest: ‘We wanted a place to watch our kids play and grow up.’ Jessica and Cash first crossed paths while filming the Fantastic Four in 2004 and they married four years later in Los Angeles.

To top things off, they recently celebrated their 11 year wedding anniversary in Paris. Their first daughter Honor was born in 2008, Haven was delivered in 2011, and Hayes arrived on New Year’s Eve 2017.
