Anne Hathaway brought a bit of Hollywood glitz to the Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies in Oslo, Sweden, which was a surprise. Hathaway and Denzel Washington, who will be 55 at the end of the month and won an Oscar, were both there to host the Nobel Peace Prize Concert today.
Barry Manilow, Herbie Hancock, and A.R. Rahman, who won an Oscar for his music, also performed with the 28-year-old actress.
Anne and Denzel held a news conference about the concert earlier today. The concert is to honor Liu Xiaobo, a jailed Chinese dissident who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010.
Last year, the 54-year-old was given an 11-year sentence for “inciting subversion” because he wrote a charter for China that called for multi-party democracy and respect for human rights.
Liu Xiaobo and his family were not allowed to attend by China.
