Robert Duvall is in talks to join the cast of the canine drama “Bum’s Rush,” which stars Anne Hathaway and Bill Murray. Rocket Science revealed the castings at the virtual Cannes Market on Tuesday. Rocket Science handles international sales while CAA Media Finance represents the local rights.

Aaron Schneider, director of the upcoming Tom Hanks war film “Greyhound” and “Get Low,” is directing “Bum’s Rush” based on a screenplay by C. Gaby Mitchell. The plot centers on the friendship between Hathaway’s bootmaker and Bum, a stray dog (to be voiced by Murray). The two find themselves at a pivotal juncture that will transform their hearts and minds in ways they cannot foresee.

Together with Mitchell and Schneider, Sarah Green, whose credits include “Loving” and “Tree of Life,” will produce. Location filming will be place in Santa Barbara and New Mexico.

Schneider stated, “I am thrilled to reunite with my ‘Get Low’ co-stars Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, and C. Gaby Mitchell, as well as Anne Hathaway and Sarah Green.” “I’m happy to be a part of such an exceptional endeavor. We are all dog lovers on this team, and we appreciate their worth in our lives more than ever.”

In 2010, “Get Low” was released. The film received Schneider the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. She’s represented by CAA and Management 360. Representative for Murray is David Nochimson. He is represented by UTA. The agencies CAA and McKuin Frankel Whitehead represent Schneider. Matthew Saver is Mitchell’s agent. The agent for Green is Frankfurt Kurnit.

While there is no physical festival this year, the Cannes Market got out on Monday with two distinct virtual events: Cinando’s Marché du Film and A Demain Marché, organized by Hollywood agencies.
