The Back To The Future trilogy is a classic. Cinephiles still admire it 35 years later. Anne Hathaway is taking the DeLorean at 88 mph to share her passion of Back To The Future with HBO Max’s The Witches director and co-writer Robert Zemeckis.
In an exclusive conversation with CinemaBlend’s Sean O’Connell, Anne Hathaway gushed about her recent collaborator’s most famous work. It’s hefty. She said: I recently watched Back to the Future, one of those movies you’ve seen so many times and get lost in as a kid. But now as an adult, knowing Bob [Zemeckis] from this film, I got really lost in the filming of it. Beautiful film. It’s brilliantly layered and edited. It’s joyful… It engulfs you.
True. Back To The Future has too much to discuss. Perfect movie. CinemaBlend asked Hathaway which of the three movies she liked best. Hathaway immediately referenced the 1985 film that transports Marty McFly to the 1950s to see his parents in high school. Before returning to the 1980s, he must assist set them up.
Anne Hathaway geeked out further talking about Christopher Lloyd’s iconic Doc Brown. She compared the persona to her Witches experience, adding, Bob has a great track record of letting actors stretch and give their finest performances. For me, Bruce Willis in Death Becomes Her, Christopher Lloyd in anything, Meryl Streep in everything. The list is endless. I was happy he chose me as his Grand High Witch.
Robert Zemeckis gives players outstanding roles. Even though the deep fake with Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland has us wanting an MCU tribute to the film, Doc Brown is irreplaceable. Anne Hathaway plays a scary demon in The Witches. Hathaway is gloriously insane. Eric Eisenberg of CinemaBlend gave The Witches three stars. The 1990 film featuring Angelica Huston had a considerably better ending than this one. The Roald Dahl adaptation stars Octavia Spencer, Chris Rock, and Stanley Tucci.
