Is Neflix’s Wednesday Coming Back for a Second Season?

Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams is mesmerizing. The new Netflix show, Wednesday, imagines the iconic Wednesday Addams character attending supernatural boarding school Nevermore Academy. There, Wednesday investigates the mysterious murders in the woods by a monster.

After eight thrilling episodes, the monster was revealed—but there other plots remain unresolved, to be explored in further seasons.

“For us, it’s always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally,” co-creator Miles Millar told Variety. “That’s never expected, but that’s the anticipation that hopefully the show is successful. So you always lay out at least three or four seasons’ worth of potential storylines for the characters. It can evolve and change. Often, you want to see which characters or cast pop and who you like to write for. So you want to keep it open and organic enough to change it and evolve, but we certainly have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future seasons.”

In another interview, Millar shared, “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.” Co-creator Alfred Gough agrees, saying, “There’s definitely more that you can explore in the world of the Addamses.”

Any future seasons would remain focus on Wednesday, as she is the titular character, but, Millar shares, “definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season.”

If the show did return for a second season, we can expect Jenna Ortega to reprise her role as Wednesday Addams, along with the other actors who portray the Addams family: Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. In addition, Wednesday’s peers at Nevermore, Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White) would likely return.
